Mad Skills: Workshops February 2020

¡HAH! Happy Arte Hour 2020 – This year, in the spirit of the NHCC’s 20th Anniversary, we have invited back some of the artists that have contributed to the success of Happy Arte Hour over the years. Many of these artists were part of past exhibitions or have pieces of art in our permanent collection. On the first Thursday of the month, NHCC invites adults for artistic fun in a relaxed social setting, which includes snacks, refreshments, and beer & wine for sale from Pop Fizz. This is a great opportunity for friends to hang out, a unique date night option, or a place to come solo and connect with fellow art enthusiasts. On February 6, Nick Abdalla and Susan Spring will join us again for Valentine Assemblage! Please pre-register at (so we know how many materials to prepare). Registration for the following month is available the day after the current program month.

Concertina Album – A Bookbinding Technique – Mita Saldana, owner of Against the Grain, will be the instructor for this class. This is a fun book because of its sculptural quality and based on the accordion fold structure. The concertina is the spine and each section of pages is then sewn into each fold. This binding has the ability to stand and be viewed in the round or spread out horizontally. It’s a fairly easy binding technique that, because of the thickness of the spine, is also useful for scrapbooks and art journals that may have dimensional elements added to the page. No previous experience required. Most materials and tools will be provided Students will need to bring PVA glue. All students will be emailed prior to the class.

Where: SW Craft Connection When: February 6, 2020, 10am -5pm Cost: $95
