Like everyone else in the world, I have had a very chaotic and stressful year. Learning to adjust to a pandemic world has been no easy feat. Adapting to working from home and not being able to leave the house when you want has been hard. Heck, it’s been hard carving out any creative space in my head to make art!
When I do actually take the time to make crafts or some form of art, I can feel the stress just leave my body. My brain clears and I allow myself to focus only on making art. It’s a great feeling.
I am ready to leave 2020 behind and ready to make a creative start to the new year. It has taken me a while to decide how I am going to accomplish this. It’s easy to say, “hey, I’m going to make art more frequently.” It’s not so easy to have the motivation and time to actually do it.
I am dedicating no less than half an hour to create some sort of art every day. I even made a list of prompts to help me along the way. I wrote down thirty one of them – one for each day of the month of January. The art can be any medium, any size.
The prompts are random ideas/thoughts/concepts. I cut the list up and put each prompt in a box. Every day I will pull one and make something based on it. I hope that these small works of art will get the creative juices flowing and forge the way to an inspired and productive arty and crafty year! Wish me luck!
