At the beginning of the year I hit a powerful wall of fatigue from the holidays, work, and the pandemic. Being creative is the one thing that helps me to de-stress, so I decided to challenge myself to create a small piece of art every day for the month of January.
I wrote down a bunch of prompts, put them in a bowl, and pulled one out everyday as inspiration for art-making. The point wasn’t to make masterpieces, but rather to get the creative juices flowing. It was meant to be a quick and dirty exercise! I didn’t want to spend more than 30 minutes a day making anything.
I tend to work very small, probably as a result of making jewelry most of my life. Most of what I made was artist trading card size, which I love to make. I have a huge assortment of rubber stamps that I’ve collected through the years, so with the addition of colored pencils, markers, watercolors, rhinestones, glitter glue, and an assortment of papers, I went to work!
Here are some of the favorite pieces I made along with the prompts!
